LOCAL TO NATIONAL

Illumbrella → Illumbrella 2.0

Problem: Power cuts, poor lighting, heat exposure, limited mobile charging, and inadequate weather protection affect villagers, street vendors, and outdoor workers. Fixed solar systems also face underutilization and monsoon-related damage.

Solution: Illumbrella integrates lighting, cooling, solar charging, hygiene protection and advertising into an everyday umbrella. Illumbrella 2.0 evolves this into a movable solar-energy platform supporting EV charging, agricultural pumping and decentralized power.

Impact: Enables cleaner, more accessible energy while improving vendor livelihoods, supporting farmers and EV users, reducing dependence on diesel and grid power, and promoting decentralized renewable-energy access.

Awards & Recognition : DST–GoI INSPIRE-MANAK Award & ₹10,000 Scholarship • INSPIRE-MANEK District-Level Recognition • National Winner, “One Innovation – Towards a Self-Reliant India”, MoES, Government of India

ERGONOMIC SYSTEMS

SpinoGear

Problem: Prolonged sitting, poor posture and repetitive strain can contribute to spinal discomfort and reduced mobility. Existing solutions may be costly, complex or difficult to access.

Solution: pinoGear is an innovative stool-mounted system designed to support spinal alignment, controlled movement and posture-oriented exercise through an integrated mechanical approach.

Impact: Designed for home and everyday use, SpinoGear promotes posture correction, spinal flexibility and preventive care while remaining compact, accessible and easy to operate. Prototype testing and expert feedback guided improvements to its stability, belts and cervical mechanism.

Validation: District-Level Science Exhibition Recognition, Patent Filed, Research Paper Published in IJFMR (2025)

INFRASTRUCTURE

Gutter Guard

Problem: Garbage, plastic waste and leaves enter open drainage inlets and nalas, causing blockages, waterlogging, flooding, pollution and unsafe sanitation conditions.

Solution: A low-cost dual system: Gutter Guard prevents solid waste from entering roadside drains, while the Sewage Cage traps floating waste in open nalas for easy removal and cleaning.

Impact: The prototypes demonstrated effective waste interception, uninterrupted water flow and easy maintenance. Testing indicated nearly 40% reduction in cleaning frequency and manpower requirements, while improving drainage efficiency, hygiene and worker safety.

Awards & Recognition: INSPIRE-MANAK Award & ₹10,000 Scholarship — DST, Government of India; District-Level Science Exhibition Recognition.

Automatic Shoe Shiner - Hand Held Device

Agriculture on Wheel (AoW)

Orange Peel Bioplastic Hair Accessories

This low-cost electromechanical device enables hands-free shoe cleaning and polishing while reducing bending-related strain.

A lightweight, mobile farming tool carrier designed to support small and marginal farmers with limited access to machinery.

An eco-friendly bioplastic developed from discarded orange peels as a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics for hair accessories.

Problem: Manual shoe polishing requires repeated bending, causing discomfort and ergonomic strain.

Problem: Dense cities face land scarcity, pollution, and limited space for urban agriculture, while large rooftop surfaces on public buses remain largely underutilised.

Problem: Plastic hair accessories create long-lasting waste, while discarded orange peels are often treated as agricultural and food waste.

Solution: A portable dual-brush system powered by low-voltage DC motors for controlled, efficient shoe polishing.

Solution: Agriculture on Wheels transforms bus rooftops into lightweight, modular cultivation platforms for leafy greens, herbs, and nursery plants, integrating urban agriculture with public transport infrastructure.

Solution: Converts discarded orange peels into biodegradable bio-plastic for making sustainable hair accessories such as clips, pins, and combs.

Impact: Enables convenient shoe care while promoting ergonomic comfort and accessible frugal innovation.

Impact: Creates distributed green infrastructure without new land acquisition, supports local biomass production and carbon assimilation, and offers opportunities for green employment, skill development, and productive use of public assets.

Impact: Reduces plastic and food waste, promotes sustainable fashion, and creates potential additional income opportunities for farmers, processors, and consumers.
